Since 2022, a silent consensus has been shattered. We are not on the brink of a global conflict—we are living it. World War III is not a future threat of nuclear exchange; it is our present reality. Yet, as battles rage and alliances harden, our leaders still speak of peace and secure prizes for it. It’s time to look past the rhetoric and examine the facts.
What defines a “world war”? According to historical analysis, several key criteria must be met:
1. Involvement of Major Powers: The conflict must draw in the world’s principal political, economic, and military forces into opposing blocs. Today, we see NATO and Russia in direct confrontation, with material support flowing from a network of states including North Korea and Iran, primarily focused on the war in Ukraine.
2. Global Geographic Scope: Fighting and military operations must span multiple, distinct regions. Look around: from Ukraine to the Middle East (Iran, Israel, Yemen), from simmering tensions in Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Thailand) to interventions in Africa (Somalia, Sudan) and the Americas (Venezuela). The theater is truly planetary.
3. Widespread Impact: Nearly every nation feels the effects, either directly through combat or indirectly through crippling economic instability, shattered trade networks, and the massive mobilization of resources. Countries are now racing to boost military spending, with annual growth rates consuming significant percentages of GDP almost overnight.
4. Immense Scale and Casualties: This involves industrial-scale warfare, profound human loss, and the reshaping of the global order. We are witnessing the mass production of weapons—from ships to AI-guided drones—by the US, Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and Asia. The human cost is already catastrophic: the widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure in Gaza, mass famine in Sudan, and the devastation of eastern Ukraine. A fundamental realignment of global influence is underway, with each major power asserting dominance in its sphere.
5. Ideological Dimension: The conflict is driven by clashing worldviews as much as by territory or resources. We see the stark contrasts of colonialism versus self-determination, and the rule of law versus brute force. This is amplified by the alarming rise of far-right movements across the globe.

Furthermore, we have weaponized a new digital ideology: using artificial intelligence for mass surveillance and precision targeting, creating a chilling new paradigm of control.

So, where do we go from here? How do we change course?
The painful truth is that removing individual politicians is not enough. For every leader brought to justice, another stands ready, backed by corporate sponsors. The root of the perpetual war machine lies deeper. We must bring to justice the executives and corporations in the technology and defense sectors who lobby for conflict, market its tools, and profit from the bloodshed.
This is not a problem unique to the West; it is a global malignancy. We need an international movement to hold these war profiteers accountable and to secure financial restitution for their victims. Those who promote, enable, and supply weapons, knowing their profits are drenched in the blood of civilians, must face legal consequences.
This is why I am beginning a campaign focused on the top five technology companies and their executives whose platforms and tools have enabled the genocide in Gaza. We need to stop the profit motive of tech executives in creating these weapons. I am asking for your support to petition the Spanish government to investigate and prosecute these big tech entities for complicity in atrocity and crimes against humanity.
As I’ve detailed previously, Spain’s judiciary, with its principle of universal jurisdiction, presents the most viable path for such a landmark prosecution.
